Normally there would be an FO Friday somewhere in between WIP Wednesdays (and I say normally but really this is my second of my attempted-regular posts so there is no "normal" yet) but I was out of town on Friday. It's spring break for me this week (my last one at least for this school go-round, as I'll be graduating in May) and I went on a family trip to visit my nana in California. It was lovely and warm and relaxing.

Onward to projects!

Knitting:

I started Haruni, a lace shawl that has about a million projects on Ravelry. The beginning was challenging because I've done very little lace and I've never started a top-down shawl before, but once I got past that the pattern was easily memorizable without being boring. The rows are getting longer every time, though, so it's not progressing as fast now as it was in the beginning. 24 more rows before I move on to the second chart (a beautiful leaf edging—there's a reason it's so popular.)

Bliss: I was knitting this with my nana's dog, Molly, out in the sun in her courtyard garden.

Sewing:

I'm currently working on a dress that I'm hoping to have done for my graduation in May. A few weeks ago I registered for a Craftsy class, "The Couture Dress with Susan Khalje" and this is part of that process. I even managed to find some inexpensive silk yardage for the dress, some of which I'm going to dye (I got it from Dharma Trading Co., if you're interested; they sell dyes and undyed fabrics.) I'm currently working on the muslin to make sure it fits before I make the real dress, which I've never done before. It's extra work, but I suspect it'll be worth it, as I have a hard time with fit when I sew normally. The dress pattern is Vogue 8648, view B.

(You can also see my sewing machine decorations, LOL.)

Weaving:

The previously mentioned scarves are off the loom. One of them has had its fringe twisted, the others I'm going to leave alone. They haven't been wet-finished yet due to the previously mentioned vacation.

Spinning

The rainbow merino/tussah is still in progress, but without much visible change. I just barely got to the orange section.

I'm hoping to use my spring break to work on all these projects and then some—I have fleece to wash and process, too, and I might start warping the loom for my next project (kitchen towels for my mom.) Having time to craft and no homework to worry about ignoring my homework? Sounds awesome to me!
